The common colors of poker chips are red white and blue. Traditionally the red ones are valued at $5, the white ones at $1, and the blue ones at $2. You can have higher stakes poker chips too such as $10 and $20. You can determine which colors you want them to be. Many casinos use black and green for them. You want the colors to all be different enough that there is no confusion as to the dollar amount. You also want them to be the same size so that people can easily stack them.
Casinos often have poker chips that are customized for their establishment. They have certain designs on them. Generally it is a logo or the business name that you will find on them. If you enjoy hosting poker games at your home you can get a set custom made with any information you want to place in the middle. A more cost effective option is to get a software program and print them out yourself. You just peel and stick them securely on the middle area of your poker chips.
I have found poker sets work well at home with the kids too. I give them each a different color of poker chip for their allowance. Each one is worth a dollar or an hour of video games. They can trade them in when they want to. Of course it didn’t take long for my oldest to figure out he could just buy more poker chips at the store. So I had to personalize them to keep them from scamming me!
